Characteristics
Ductile, shiny, silver-white metal, softer than lead. Soluble in acids. Insoluble in alkalies. Corrosion-resistant at room
temperatures, but oxidizes readily at higher temperatures. Non toxic.

Production Methods
Indium is a very soft, silvery-white, highly ductile, relatively rare metal with a bright luster,it is chemically similar to
Gallium and Thallium. Indium is recovered from either flue dusts,slags & lead drosses produced as a by product of electrolytic
zinc plant residues, further purification is done by electrolysis method.

Applications
Indium could be used in different fields, according to its purity. Primarily used in fusible alloys, solders and flat panel
display coatings.
